Summer hours at the Greene County Historical Museum, 219 E.Lincolnway in Jefferson, begin May 1.
The museum will be open through Sept. 30 from 1 to 4 pm on Wednesdays, and from 9 am to noon on Saturdays.
Beginning in June, hundreds of the museum’s vast collection of Barbie dolls will be on display.
Among the permanent displays are rooms, including the kitchen, laundry, parlour and bedrooms, of a typical small town Iowa 1900s home, and the space honoring well-known Greene Countians—including astronaut U.S. Air Force Col. Loren Shriver of Paton; World War II Medal of Honor recipient U.S. Army Air Force Capt. Darrell Lindsey; and Olympians Doreene Wilber, who won a gold medal in women’s archery in the 1972 Summer Olympics, and Jackie Fie, who placed 49th in balance beam in the 1956 Summer Olympics and later became an Olympics gymanstics judge.
